Kamloops Attractions

Sandman Hotel Group features properties located within a rich mosaic of neighbourhoods and surrounding areas, each with a distinct, welcoming personality.  We have compiled a list of useful information below to enhance your stay.

Kamloops, Canada's Tournament Capital, is located at the confluence of the South and North Thompson Rivers in British Columbia's semi-arid grasslands, and is a hotbed of outdoor activities.

Sandstone canyons, grasslands, and evergreen timberlands play host to incredible hiking, mountain biking, and camping. More than 100 lakes and two major rivers provide great fishing, kayaking, canoeing, rafting, and tubing.

Kamloops was named one of the top three GamesTown2010 communities for demon-strating its spirit and passion for sports and healthy living leading up to the 2010 Winter Games.

Not only an outdoor activity centre, Kamloops also takes pride in its vibrant arts community, represented in art galleries throughout the city, and theatre and music festivals and events held annually.

Due to Kamloops' geographic location amongst hills and valleys and the fact that many outdoor recreational activities take place just beyond the city-limits, car travel is the best transportation method.

Within the city however, extensive bus routes make public transportation a good option. Getting to Kamloops is also possible by rail or air.

Kamloops is a four-season destination with limitless outdoor recreation opportunities – including hiking, mountain biking, golfing, fishing, and downhill skiing and snowboarding – that take full advantage of the area's diverse geography of dry semi-arid grasslands and towering alpine mountains.

Kamloops' geographical diversity is matched only by its cultural diversity, proudly showcased at year-round theatrical and musical events, gallery exhibits, and annual festivals, such as the Kamloops Cowboy Festival and the Kamloopa Pow Wow.

Kamloops' location in the Thompson Okanagan region – the wine-making hub of British Columbia – also means wine and food lovers are certainly not overlooked: Check out Canada's only ice-wine festival at Sun Peaks Resort.
